Results presentation
This figure shows two types of model results which can be displayed using visiSEAM. These results are for the scale model ship hull model shown elsewhere. The predicted inplane vibration for the right middle plate is shown in the top graph for the full frequency range of the run. In this plot predicted response is compared to baseline results from an earlier design iteration. Results are displayed for third-octave bands, though other analysis bandwidths are available. The bottom graph shows power flow in and out of the inplane modes of this plate. Positive numbers indicate power flowing in, while negative numbers indicate power flowing out. This graph shows that the inplane modes are mainly excited by the inplane modes of the plate above, and transmit energy to the bending modes of two perpendicular plates. This type of energy flow plot can be very valuable in understanding the relative importance of different structural and acoustic paths.
