Structural vibration model
visiSEAMª example: scale model ship hull

The figure below shows the visiSEAM network view for a scale model hull vibration problem. The model corresponds to an experimental setup studied by Jorge Tratch as a master's thesis in 1985. The vertical plates represent a ship bulkhead, and the lower plates represent a ship double hull. The bulkhead is excited by vibration transmitted from an equipment mount location, which is driven by an input power. Tratch's work demonstrated that in-plane modes can be very important for vibration transmission. Good agreement is seen between the SEAM model shown below and Tratch's measurement.

Additional model elements could be added by dragging and dropping from an icon palette. Many options are available under each general icon type. For example, plates may be modeled as honeycomb, layered, stiffened, frame-supported, or strip-like.
